Question

A 58-cm-diameter wheel accelerates uniformly about its center from 150rpm to 400rpm in 3.5s

Part A

Determine its angular acceleration.

Express your answer using two significant figures.

Part B

Determine the radial component of the linear acceleration of a point on the edge of the wheel 2.0s after it has started accelerating.

Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units.

Part C

Determine the tangential component of the linear acceleration of a point on the edge of the wheel 2.0s after it has started accelerating.

Express your answer using two significant figures.

I have part A which is

Please show work

? = 7.5 rad/s2

Explanation / Answer

a) ? = ??/?t = (280 - 130)*2?/60/4.0s = 3.93 rad/s^2

b) tangential a = r*? = 0.35m*3.93 = 1.37 m/s^2

Now ? = ?o + ?t = 130*2?/60 + 3.93*2 = 21.5 rad/s

So radial a = r*?^2 = 0.35m*21.5^2 = 161m/s^2
