A second object, twice as tall as the first one, is placed in front of the mirror, but at a different location. The image of this second object has the same height as the other image. How far in front of the mirror is the second object located? An object is located 13.5 cm in front of a convex mirror, the image being 6.65 cm behind the mirror. A second object, twice as tall as the first one, is placed in front of the mirror, but at a different location. The image of this second object has the same height as the other image. How far in front of the mirror is the second object located?Explanation / Answer
we got:
Distance of 1st object - 13.5
Distance of the 1st image - 6.65
Height of the second image - 6.65
We need :
height of the second object
Okay so first we need to figure out the magnifination of the 1st object.
m = di/do
m = 6.65/13.5
m=0.4925
m= 0.49
now we have the Hi and M of the second object
so
m = hi/ho
ho= hi(m)
ho = 6.65 (0.4925)
Ho=3.275
Height of the second object is 3.275 cm
