3. The flow of solvent (water) would be from 0.9% NaCl to 20% NaCl solution through a semipermeable membrane, until this flow equalize the solute concentrations on the two sides. This process occurs due to the osmosis.

4. The diffusion takes place with the salt concentrations, diffusion occurs from the higher concentration of the solute to lower concentration of solute, means the molecules of NaCl would be moving from the 20% to 0.9% of NaCl. Yes, the osmosis would also be occurring simultaneously with the solvent until the equilibrium is met.

5. Salt creates hypertonic condition, which causes exocytosis of water from bacterial cells, the cells lose water until they reach a state where they cannot grow anymore. Thus addition of salt inhibits the growth of microorganisms. Also rubbing the salt make meat dehydrated which makes meat inhabitable for bacterial growth.
