Explanation / Answer

A) the impulse will be the area undet the curve,

= area of triangle = 0.5* 8 millisecond * F max

=> 7.2 = 0.5* 8x10-3 secs* F max

=> Fmax = 1800 N

B) a) the force is + 2 N and experienced for a time of 0.5 secs

we know that force = mass * acceleration

so , accceleration will be F/m = +2 /1.6 = 1.25 m/s2

now ,

we know that

final velocity = initial velocity + acceleration* time

= 0.6 m/s + 1.25 m/s2* 0.5 s

= 1.225 m/s

b) a) the force is - 2 N and experienced for a time of 0.5 secs

we know that force = mass * acceleration

so , accceleration will be F/m =-2 /1.6 = -1.25 m/s2

now ,

we know that

final velocity = initial velocity + acceleration* time

= 0.6 m/s + (-1.25 m/s2)* 0.5 s

= -0.025 m/s
