Question
Just posted this and got a wrong answer... hopefully someone can help me...I keep getting this awful person answering my questions completely wrong purposely. If your answer is 54.24 for part A or 1.64 for part B its WRONG!
A 4.8mH toroidal inductor has 150 identical equally spaced coils.
Part A
If it carries an 11.3A current, how much magnetic flux passes through each of its coils?
Express your answer using two significant figures.
Answer: in mWb
Part B
If the potential difference across its ends is 1.18V , at what rate is the current in it changing?
Express your answer using two significant figures. Enter only the magnitude of the rate.
Answer: in A/s
Explanation / Answer
flux = L*I
total flux = N*flux through each coil = L*I
flux through each coil = L*I/N = (4.8*10^-3*11.3)/150 = 0.36 mWb <---------answer
part (B)
total flux = L*I
emf = rate of change in flux
emf = L*dI/dt
dI/dt = emf/L = 1.18/(4.8*10^-3) = 245.83 A/s <---------answer
