Question
two long parallel wire carry equal currents, I, in opposite directions as shown. Midway between the wires inthe same plane is a current loop of radius R carrying a current I as shown. R = 5cm, I = 50A.
A Find the magnitude of and the direction of the magnetic field at the center of the loop due to all parts of the system (the answer is 0.43 mT out of the page i just need to see the work of how it is done)
B. What is the magnetic moment, m, of the current loop? (the answer is 0.39 A*m^2 I need to see the work!)
please be thorough!!
4RExplanation / Answer
A)
the magnetic field due to long wire B1=uoi/2pi*2r (into the page)
the magnetic field due to circular loop B2=uoi/2*r (out of the page)
now,
at center of the loop,
Bnet=B2-2*B1
=(uoi/2*r)-2(uoi/2pi*2r)
=(uoi/2*r)-(uoi/2pi*r)
=(uoi/2pi*r)(pi-1)
=(4pi*10^-7*50/2pi*5*10^-2)(3.14-1)
=42.8*10^-5 T
=0.428*10^-3 T
=0.43 mT
B)
magnetic moment M=i*A
=i*(pi*r^2)
=50*(3.14)*(5*10^-2)^2
=0.39 A*m^2
