Question
The figure shows six situations in which a loop of wire is near a long, straight wire. In each case, the figure shows whether the current in the straight wire is constant, increasing, or decreasing. If the loop of wire is moving, it is moving in the direction indicated and with a constant velocity.
For each part of this question, indicate which one or more loops of wire is correct by entering the corresponding letter or letters. If more than one letter is correct, enter the letters of your answer in alphabetical order with no spaces in between. If none of the loops of wire is correct, enter the word NONE.
(a) In which of the situations, if any, is the magnetic flux through the loop increasing?
(b) In which of the situations, if any, is the magnetic flux through the loop constant?
(c) In which of the situations, if any, will there be a current induced in the loop going counterclockwise?
(d) In which situations, if any, will there be NO current induced in the loop?
Explanation / Answer
A) In D an F ,because by increaing I ,magnetic field through loop increases, and by moving nearer more field lines passes through, then Flux therough D and E increasing
B) In C only ,because constant B passes through loop
C) in B,E and F,this is accordance with Lenz's law
D) when there is no change in Flux then there is no current in loop, hence the answer is C
