Question

An object is located with s = +5f for a concave spherical mirror, about the resulting image? What can you say about the resulting image?. The image is real, inverted, and shrunken. The image is virtual, upright and magnified. The image is real, upright and shrunken. The image is virtual, inverted, and magnified. No image is formed. A boat carrying a large boulder is floating on a lake. The boulder is thrown overboard and sinks. The water level of the lake (with respect to the shore) Rises Drops Remains the same. Two objects receive the same amount of heat. Which of the following is NOT a reason the two objects may have different temperature changes? They have different initial temperatures. They have different masses. They have different specific heats. The speed of sound in air depends on Tension Temperature Distance Wavelength An ideal gas undergoes isothermal expansion. What is true about the work done on the gas? The work depends on the change in volume The work is negative The work depends on the temperature. Both A and B A, B, and C. You shoot a gun at a fish in a pond. Where do you need to aim to hit it? At the image of the fish. Below the image of the fish. Above the image of the fish.

Explanation / Answer

5.  a) real inverted and shrunken

6. b.drops

When it is inside the boat, the boulder displaces its weight in water. When it is thrown overboard, it only displaces its volume in water so the water level of the lake with respect to the shore goes down.

You might also look at a free body diagram and Newton's first law for the boat and boulder as a system. Before the boulder is thrown overboard, there are only buoyant and weight forces. After the boulder comes to rest on the bottom of the lake, there is a normal force on the boulder. The buoyant force is therefore smaller, thus the volume displaced must be smaller. While the boulder is moving down, there is an upward drag force and a similar analysis holds, so you don't need to wait until the boulder hits the bottom.

7. b) they have different masses

8.b) temperature

in air speed of change will change when temperature changes. ( V is prportional to square root of temp.)
so your answer should be 3

9.a) The work depends on the change in volume

10. b) below the image of the fish
