Question

Very much appreciated. I need help on these homework problems and I've visited my schools tutors but they're not confident in any of the help they give me and on some they just tried to "steer" me in the right direction and it wasn't helpful. I need this to study from to really understand this material. Very much appreciated. The mirror is then turned around so that its convex side faces the object. The mirror is moved so that the image is now 35 cm behind the mirror. How far was the mirror moved? Was moved toward or away from the object?

Explanation / Answer

by mirror equation

1 / f = 1 / u + 1 / v

1 / f = 1 / 100 + 1 / 64

f = 39.024 cm

if the mirror will be turned it'll become convex mirror

-1 / 39.024 = -1 / 35 + 1 / u

u = 339.4234 cm

mirror is moved away from the object by distance = 339.4234 - 100

mirror is moved away from the object by distance = 239.4234 cm
