Question
Vertically polarized light that has an intensity of 200 W/m is incident on two polarizing filters. The first filter is oriented 26.0" from the vertical while the second filter is oriented 40.0 from the vertical in the same direction. 1) Predict the intensity of the light that emerges from the second filter. (Express your answer to two significant figures.) W/m2 Submit You currently have 0 submissions for this question. Only 10 submission are allowed. intensity Io = 200 W/m^2
theta1 = 26 degrees,
theta2 = 40 degrees
I1=Io*cos^2(theta1)
I1=200*cos^2(26)
I1=161.54 W/m^2
now,
I2=I1*cos^2(theta2-theta1)
I2 = 161.54*cos^2(40 -26)
I2 = 152.03 W/m^2
2)
The polarisation of light that emerges out of second filter is exactly same as that of orientation angle of sencond filter, that is, 40o from the vertical.
