Question
In 2009, environmental analyst Lester R. Brown estimated that reforesting the earth and restoring the earth's degraded rangelands would cost about $15 billion a year. Suppose the United States, the world's most affluent country, agreed to put up half of this money, at an average annual cost of $25 per American citizen. Would you support doing this? Explain. What other part or parts of the federal budget would you decrease to come up with these funds?
Please write personal perspective. Please type it up, because hand writing is sometimes hard to understand.
Explanation / Answer
Yes, I would have definitely supported this. We need to think about our mother Nature more than our increasing lavish demands. Reforestation would help the environment on the Earth to balance itself. Restoration of degraded land will also help in maintaining the balance.
The effects of global warming have already added to our discomforts. The sole reason for this discomfort are 'the humans'. We would be selfish if we go on degrading the environment without thinking about the sustainable development ,which might save the planet and also the future generations .
Federal budget is the budget which focuses on the prioritise of the government. I would have decreased the military part of the federal budget to come up with this funds and make 'Environmental Concern' to be the most prioritized one.
