subsequently lived through the tumultuous period from the 1900s to the 1920s:
1.   An urban youth receiving education;
2.   A local gentry;
3.   A military officer / soldier;
4.   A merchant;
5.   A farmer;
6.   A woman.

Prepare a brief 5 to 8-minute talk on your life experience and feelings during this period.
Try to make your presentation as interesting as possible, and be prepared to answer
questions. By the end of the seminar, you should have a good idea of how people from
different walks of life fared during those years.
NB. China being a vast country, people from the same social group might fare differently,
depending on the region / city where they were living in. Please make sure that you have
addressed this issue in the presentation.

The period of 1900 to 1920 is a very important phase in the chinese history because it leads to the fall of the qing dynasty and establishment of the republic of china. The local gentry was very relived as they were going through the bad times. It came as a renaissance and reform hope for the people living in china.
For a soldier it was a difficult time because as people were struggling there way out because of change in ruling party. They need to understand that soldiers were the main unifying agents for china at that time.
Merchants, farmers were facing difficulty and were praying for a rigid governance which can lead them to their freedom The chaos , hopelessness and desire which becomes more prevalent in the year approximately 1920 . Women were finding place in the era of globalization.

A male dominated patriarchal society is what persists in the region. This still continues to a more later period of time and there was a clear cut bifurcation among sexes and the facilities were provided with biasness.
