Question
I need help solving this 2 questions which i got wrong. I have to make the corrections and resubmit. Please explain in details.Q1 A 500 Kg car goes to 65 miles/h in 3.5 seconds. Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D and Part E. Show Calculations please.
Q2 A full cylinder and an empty cylinder with the same mass and radius are let to roll down an incline. Explain and argue which cylinder arrives first at the bottom of the ramp ?
your show ALL your wo N write all answers legibly and clearly use UNITS for all final answers No Baa K. no collaboration, no talking to each other you can use your book and your calculator, but nothing else! (1) 20 points A 500 kg car goes to 65 miles/h in 3.5 seconds. a) what it's acceleration? t 3.55 b) what force acts on the car? c) what distance the car travelled during this period? D ST Sp Tint NOT MUCH IF A d) what is the kinetic energy of the car? vm.t n in 3.5 sec caN ONU. NOT DISTANCE y 50 ka e) calculate the work done by the engine and the average power. 24.12 Y (2) 10 points A full cylinder and an empty cyllinder with the sane mass and radius are let to roll down an incline. Explain and argue which cylinder atrives first at the bottom of the ramp. Due To INCLINE NOT MASS.
Explanation / Answer
(a)
a= v/t = 65 mile/h /3.5s= 29.0576 m/s/3.5 s = 8.3 m/s^2
(b)
F = ma = 500*8.3 = 4151.08 N
(c)
s= ut + 1/2 at^2
= 0(3.5)+ 1/2 ( 8.3) (3.5)^2 = 50.83 m
(d)
v= u+ at
= 0 + 8.3(3.5)
=29.05 m/s
kinetic energy of the car is
KE = 1/2 m v^2 = 1/2 * 500 ( 29.05)^2 = 210975.625J
(e)
W = change in kinetic energy = 210975.625 J
power = W/t = 210975.625/3.5 s = 60278.75 W
