I'm in electricity and magnetism physics. I am having trouble understanding this problem. Can you please explain each step. And show how to check this problem. Thank you
Variation of 25:62: A telescope is used to view a scale that is 300 cm from the objective, which has a focal length of 20 cm; the eyepiece has a focal length of 2 cm. Determine the angular magnification when the scope is adjusted for minimum eyestrain. Note: The object is not at infinity, so the simple expression m-fuf, is not sufficient, but do assume small angles (tan ). Page 3 of 3

Explanation / Answer

uo = 300 cm

fo = 20 cm

fe = 2 cm

For objective :

(1/vo) -(1/uo) = (1/fo)

(1/vo)-(1/-300)= 1/20

(1/vo) = (1/20) - (1/300)

1/v o = (15-1) / 300

= 14/300

= 0.0466

vo = 21.428 cm

For eye piece :

(1/ve) -(1/ue) = (1/fe)

(1/-25) -(1/ue) = (1/2)

(1/ue) = (-1/25) -(1/2)

= -0.54

ue = -1.851 cm

Magnification m = (vo/uo)(ve/ue)

= (21.428/300)(25/1.851)

= 0.96426
