Question
You are relaxing on the beach when your friend suddenly zooms by in an extremely fast powerboat. Suppose (unrealistically) that the powerboat moves at relativistic speeds. The instant the powerboat passes right in front of you, both you and your friend get the same idea to play “Ride of the Valkyries” on your respective stereo systems. Your recordings are identical. In your friend’s frame, whose recording finishes first?
Select one:
a. yours
b. your friend’s
c. They finish at the same time.

An object is observed from two different inertial frames, S and S. According to classical relativity, which one of the following quantities must have the same value in each frame?
Select one:
a. velocity
b. acceleration
c. momentum
d. kinetic energy
Explanation / Answer
1) As my friend is moving at close to relativistic speed therefore time would slow down in my friend frame. Hence sound would finishes first in my frame. Option A.
2) Inertial frames are those which move with constant or same velocity, therefore velocity measure would depends upon the frame of reference, so as momentum and so as kinetic energy, however acceleration would be zero in both the frame. Hence value of acceleration would be same in both the frame. Option B.
