Stacey is 15 year old avid runner. She began cross country as a freshman and is excited to see how much she can improve this season. During the first month of season she began experiencing bad shin pain that would not go away. At the doctors it was revealed the she had lost almost 10 pounds and had not begun menarche. In addition, she had a stress fracture. She was placed in a walking boot and her parents were given the names of several health professionals to contact for assistance.

1)Aside from the stress fracture, what condition might Stacey be experiencing?

Explanation / Answer

1)broken tibia as she has shin pain as well.

2)the stress fracture is due to over use of her muscles which got fatigued in her shin leading to stress fracture.

3)The advise is to have a plaster or put a scrape bandage for sometime and get an xray done.
