Question
In this picture, the battery on the left is 7.5v, the right battery is 10v. All resistors are 100 ohms. The goal was to find the potential difference through each resistor, the current through each resistor, and the current that the two ammeters are reading. I was able to find everything but the reading of the two ammeters, by using Kirchoff's loop rule for the left half and again for the right half, and assuming there is a current I1 through R1, I2 through R2, and I3 through R3, and that I3=I1+I2.
I got these two equations:
7.5v - (I1)(R1) - (I3)(R3) = 0
and 10v - (I2)(R2) - (I3)(R3) = 0
Solving the systems of equations, I find that I1= .0166A, I2=.04166A and I3= .0583A.
But I need to figure out what the ammeters should be reading after the current splits from I3 to both ammeters.
Explanation / Answer
left ammeter will read I1=0.166A, and right ammeter will read I2=0.4166
