Question
A parachutist jumps out of an airplane and accelerates with gravityto a maximum velocity of 60m/s. He then pulls the parachute cordand after a 4.0s constant deceleration, descends at 10 m/s for 60s,reaching the ground.A) How far does the parachutist fall while accelerating to60m/s?
B)What is the acceleration of the parachutist as he slows from60m/s to 10m/s?
C)What was the altitude of the airplane at the time of thejump?
I figured I could use the third kinematics equation to solve for Band C (v2=v02+2a(x-x0))to solve for altitude and acceleration but my answer is wrong. Iwould greatly appreciate a step by step solution so to help mebetter understand where my mistakes are to correct them.
