Question
Explanation / Answer
Given is:-
1. Each switch has negligible resistance when closed
2. All the connecting wires have zero resistance.
3. Voltmeter across switch s1 is an ideal voltmeter (Infinite internal resistance hence no voltage drop across it)
Now,
we know that the the voltmeter reading shows the voltage drop between its connecting two terminals (V=I.R)
Since because of above three mentions points we can say that there is zero resistance between the voltmeter terminal therefore R=0. Thus there is no voltage drop and the voltmeter reading will be always zero in all the configurations.
So we can say that Rank of the all given four configurations in terms of voltmeter reading is irrevelent bacause voltmeter will give always zero reading in any configuration because it has zero resistance across its terminals
