Question

CAN YOU PLEASE SHOW THE STEPS THAT LEAD TO THE ANSWER? THE RIGHT ANSWER IS 103.50. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

A block of mass M is pushed up a rough slope which makes an angle above the horizontal. The slope has coefficient of kinetic friction Hk. The block starts from rest, and subject to a force F which pushes up the slope with magnitude F If M-3.0kg, d-4.5m, F = 53.9N, =43.5°, and .-0.5, what is the final kinetic energy of the block? Answer in Joules Answer: 6196 The correct answer is: 103.50 Assignment 9

Explanation / Answer

let a be the accleration and f be the frictional force

so f = uk N

f = uk * mg cos theta

uk is Coeffiecint of Knetic friction

Net balancing force along the inclined plane is

F - mg sin theta -f = ma

a = (F - mg sin theta - uk mg cos theta)/m

F = 53.9 N

mg sin theta = 3 * 9.81 * sin 43.5 = 20.258 N

uk mg cos theta = 0.5* 3 * 9.81 cos 43.5 = 10.67 N

so

a = (53.9-20.258 -10.67)/3

a = 7.65 m/s^2

from kinematic eqaution

v^2 = 2a d

V^2 = 2 * a * 4.5

v^2 = 2* 7.65 *4.5

V^2 = 8.29 m/s

final Kinetic energy K = 0.5 mv^2

K = 0.5* 3 * 8.29^2

K = 103.275 Joules
