Explanation / Answer

use the basic lens equation:

1/p + 1/q = 1/f

p=object distance = +13 cm
q=image distance
f=focal length = + 23 cm

1/13 + 1/q = 1/23

1/q = 1/23 - 1/13

q = -29.9 cm, so the image is 29.9 cm in front of the converging lens (the sign convention for converging lenses is that positive image distances are behind the lens; positive object distances are in front of the lens)

the magnification is given by m = -q/p = 29.9/13 = 2.3

this means the image has the 2.3 times height as the object and is inverted
