Explanation / Answer

here,

1)

for the first lens

object distance , do1 = 22 cm

focal length , f1 = 9.9 cm

let the image distance be di1

using the lens formula

1/f1 = 1/di1 + 1/do1

1/9.9 = 1/di1 + 1/22

solving for di1

di1 = 18 cm

for the seccond lens

object distance , do2 = 26 - 18 = 8 cm

focal length , f2 = 5.9 cm

let the image distance be di2

using the lens formula

1/f2 = 1/di2 + 1/do2

1/5.9 = 1/di1 + 1/8

solving for di2

di2 = 22.5 cm

the distance between the final image and the initial object , s = d + do1 + di2

s = 26 + 22.5 + 22 = 70.5 cm
