UCONN APPLICATION ESSAY
I am going to be a transfer student from Quinnebaug Valley Community College. I have attended this college to finish my Associates Degree. The reasons I have been attending this college is because I want complete my two years and achieve my goal by getting a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. The other reasons are that I had to go through some hard obstacles in my life. I want to complete my goal in any way that I can. I know that there are going to be very hard situations standing in my way, but I have to this.
When I completed my Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering in India, I didn't have the opportunity to continue my education because of my family's financial situation. The only way to solve the problem was for me to become a breadwinner. So, I applied for a position at an automotive parts company called FAG Bearings Ltd. in India. I worked there for four full years from 2005-2009. During the years 2008-2009, I married an American born citizen. In 2009, I moved to the United States and I had to wait a couple of months in order to start my education and apply for a job. I waited so long for this opportunity and now I cannot wait any longer.
UCONN School of Engineering has been known as the top educational distinction and research leader. It is ranked in the top 50 engineering public universities in the U.S. The school provides highly equipped tech classrooms and state of the art labs. UCONN enhances the students with experience from the high tech classes and labs. The students will be able to provide with a professional environment where they can work with the latest engineering software when doing assignments. UCONN has awarded nearly $400,000 in merit scholarships to undergraduates. In 2012, there will be a new 400 kilowatt United Technologies Corporation fuel cell with power and heat in the Depot Campus. Also, in 2013, the school will open a new engineering building that will provide programs for the engineering students.

I feel lost about the direction of my education. I don’t get the financial resources I need from the university. Pursuing a higher education helps develop my sense of identity. I am not involved in any extracurricular activities. A university education will land me a job with a higher income. I’m looking for a “classical liberal education”. I anticipate that university will be a somewhat lonely experience. I am concerned about whether my program of study will lead to a success. I’ll probably take longer than most students to finish my degree. Proper networking is the key to success. Big rewards in life only come when you take a certain amount of risk. Graduating from a prestigious institution is critical for me. I have trouble finishing things. I would describe myself as a bit of a dreamer. University is the time to party and go wild. I know exactly what I want to do with my life after I graduate. Pot should be legalized in Canada. Sometimes, you have to live life on the edge to really feel alive. I’ve got a big group of friends. I usually have an extremely active social life. My mobile is my main link to my friends. To be honest, I probably spend too much time with online social media and websites. If I succeed in school, I know I will be a success after school. Material things aren’t that important to me. I tend to change my career goals and ambitions quite regularly. I’m hoping to meet my future life partner at school. I’ll probably call someone in another city more than once a week. I would consider myself to be a student activist. I feel that I’m entitled to a lot of my teachers and instructors time. Higher education will help me to learn how to navigate the system. I have a personal video gaming system in my apartment. Everyone around me seems way more stressed out than me. Compared to the university, the “real world” looks a bit scary.
