Question
Part A A rectangular coil of wire, 22.0 cm by 35.0 cm and carrying a current of 1.95 A, is oriented with the plane of ts loop perpendicular to a uniform 1.50-T magnetic field (Figure 1). Calculate the net force that the magnetic field exerts on the coil. Express your answer with the appropriate units F: 1 Value Units Figure 1 of1 Request Answer Submit Part B Axis Calculate the torque that the magnetic field exerts on the coil Express your answer with the appropriate units ??? 22.0 cm 35.0 cm T Value Units Submit Request AnswerExplanation / Answer
Area of react wire, A = 0.22 x 0.35 = 0.077 m^2
A) Force exerted on coil, F = BIL sin theta
When normal of the coil and magnetic field are parallel, then theta = 0
So, Force, F = BIL sin0 = 0 (Ans)
B) Torque, T = BIA sin(theta) = BIA sin0 = 0 (Ans)
C) since the coil is still in the uniform magnetic field, the net force exerted on the coil is still zero.
So, Force F = 0 (Ans)
D) Torque, T = BIA sin(theta)
T = 1.5 x 1.95 x 0.077 sin30 = 0.113 Nm (Ans)
