Block A has mass 17.0 kg While the blocks are moving, what is the tension T in the rope that connects the two blocks? Express your answer with the appropriate units. and block B has mass m. A constant horizontal force F 60.0 N is applied to block A (Figure 1). Explanation / Answer

Given,

m = 17 kg ; F = 60 N ; t = 5 s ; d = 18 m

We know from eqn of motion

S = ut + 1/2 at^2

18 = 0 + 0.5 x a x 5^2 =. a = 1.44 m/s^2

we know that, Fnet = ma

Fnet = 17 x 1.44 = 24.48 N

looking at the figure we can write

60 - T = 24.48

T = 60 - 24.48 = 35.52 N

Hence, T = 35.52 N
