Question

Suppose two boxes on a frictionless table are connected by a heavy cord of mass 1.00 kg. Assume Fp=54.0 N, and ignore sagging of the cord A) Calculate the acceleration of the box (a), using the freebody diagrams shown in the figure. In m/s2 B) Calculate the tension at the left end of the cord, using the free-body diagrams shown in the figure. C) Calculate the acceleration of the box , using the free-body diagrams show in the figure D) Calculate the tension at the right end of the cord, using the free-body diagrams shown in the figure.

Explanation / Answer

Just to clarify, after losing points on Mastering Physics, the answer to part D is 31.1N. I have no idea how to get it, so don't bother asking. I hope this helps others. Ill post all the parts for this problem below.

A) 2.39 m/s^2
B) 28.7 N
C) 2.39 m/s^2
D) 31.1 N
