Question

A car is at rest on a horizontal surface. The accelerator is applied and the car accelerates at 3.00 m/s^2.

A. What will be the speed of this car after 6.50 seconds?
B. What will be the average speed of this car during these 6.50 seconds?

I am confused in the difference between velocity and speed and also confused in the difference between speed and average speed. Please help me it is PAP Physics and is super hard. I am strong in math its just the units and everything else that makes it difficult for me.

Explanation / Answer

1) speed =    3*6.5

              =19.5 m/s

2) avg speed= total dist /total time taken

                    =  0.5*3*42.25 / 6.5

                  =  9.75 m/s
