Question
What is the equivalent resistance between points a and b in the figure ?
Resistance = ? ohms
I know that I have asked a question similar to this previously, but I am really lost. I think that I am having a a problem understanding how (visually) the current will move through the circuit, which is where I believe my lack of understanding stems from.
Would someone please assist me but also explain the steps and how the current would move through the circuit and why so that I can understand please?
Thank you!
Explanation / Answer
let R be the equivalent resistance
Let the currents in 300 ,200 and 100 branch be I1, I2,I3
and Let Vab be the potential difference between points a and b
total Current I = I1+ I2 + I3
I = Vab/R = Vab/300 + Vab/200 + Vab/100
1/R = 1/300 + 1/200 + 1/100
=> R = 600/11 = 54.55
