Question
A 7.15 kg block is released from rest on an inclined surface. The Incline is 3.40 m long and makes an angle of 32.0 degree relative to horizontal. The surface has frictional The block accelerates down the incline at a rate of 0.833 m/s^2. How much work is done on the block by the force of gravity as it slides the 3.40 m? 78.0 J 106 J 60.8 J 117 J 138 J 83.9 J 126 J 72.5 J Zero I'm not getting one of the answer, listed above. However, I'm sure that I'm working It correctly. Please grade the work and answer that is neatly presented In my greenbook. I don't know how to work this problem. Please take this problem to only be worth 1 point rather than 2 points.Explanation / Answer
work done by a force = Force*distance
weight has two components
1) along te plane 2) perpendicular to the plane
work done will be zero in case of the force perpendicular to the plane
W = mg sin a * S
= 7.15*9.8*sin 32 * 3.4
W = 126.2 J
so option g) is the correct answer
