Question
I need help with a few introductory physics prelab questions.
1) An object moves 15 meters in 3 seconds. What is its velocity (in m/s)?
2)What is the velocity (in cm/s) of an object which moves 44 m in 2 s?
3) The charge of an electron is -1.60x10-19 C. Determine the charge to mass ratio of the electron (in 1011 C/kg). (Hint: divide the electron's charge by its mass; the answer is a negative number with a positive exponent)
4) What is the average velocity (in kilometers per hour) of a cart that travels 100 km in 5 hours?
Explanation / Answer
1) object moves 15 m in 3 seconds
velocity = 15/3 = 5 m/s
2) velcoity = 44/2 = 22m/s
= 2200cm/s
3) charge / mass = (1.6*10^-19) / (9.1*10^-31) = 1.75*10^11 C/kg
4) average velocity = distance / time = 100/5 = 200 km/h
