Question
3. A 24.0 V battery is connected to a circuit in which a 12.0 S2 resistor and a 24.0 92 resistor are in parallel with each other. What is the expected amount of current through each resistor (assuming that the 24.0 V battery provides a voltage of 24.0 )? 4. A 12.0 V battery is connected to a circuit with a 125 2 resistor and another resistor of unknown resistance. The current through the circuit is 0.0587 A. a. Is the second resistor in series or in parallel with the first resistor? b. What is the resistance of the second resistor?Explanation / Answer
3.
We know that in parallel circuit, voltage across each resistor will be equal to total voltage, So
Voltage drop across 12 ohm = 24 V
Current in 12 ohm will be
i = V/R = 24/12 = 2 Amp
Voltage drop across 24 ohm = 24 V
Current in 24 ohm will be
i = V/R = 24/24 = 1 Amp
