Remember:
For series combination
Req = R1 + R2 + R3 +...............
for parallel combination
1/Req = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 + ............
for 2 resistors in parallel it will be
Req = R1*R2/(R1+R2)
Using this Information:

Part A

when switch is open

In left wire 60 and 20 are in series, So

Rs1 = 60 + 20 = 80 ohm

In right wire 60 and 20 are in series, So

Rs2 = 60 + 20 = 80 ohm

Now Rs1 and Rs2 are in parallel, So

Req = 80*80/(80 + 80) = 40 ohm

V = ieq*Req

ieq = V/Req = 120/40 = 30 Amp

when switch is closed

In bottom loop 60 and 20 are in parallel, So

Rp1 = 60*20/(60 + 20) = 15 ohm

In upper loop 60 and 20 are in parallel, So

Rp2 = 60*20/(60 + 20) = 15 ohm

Now Rp1 and Rp2 are in series, So

Req = 15 + 15 = 30 ohm

V = ieq*Req

ieq = V/Req = 120/30 = 40 Amp
