Question

This experiment is geometrical optics : optical instrument Second and third pic is procedure and last pic is what I got result from experiment Could you go over Q 3 please? B. Keplerian Astronomical Telescope (-camera+ magnifier). Surprisingly for some, a telescope does not make an image"b ensne!). Instead, they use the objective lens to produce a minified real image, and an igger" than the object (try fitting the eyepiece to expand its angular size to make details more visible to the eye Exit pupil fo Figure 2: Ray diagram for the Keplerian (astronomical refracting) telescope. The resulting angular magnification Ma can be found by similar triangles in the ray diagram 1. This time, our "object" is an illuminated large vernier scale at the far end of the lab. As before, make an inverted real image of this on a screen using the long focal length objective lens. 2. Now place the short-focus converging eyepiece behind the screen by I focal length, remove the screen, and adjust the eyepiece to focus. Record all distances for your report's ray diagram (you may represent the object as being "at infinity" since it is located many focal lengths away). v through the Keplerian telescope with one eye looking at a isions between P1 and P2 in the "object" scale line up with 7.0 divisions le, so the measured angular magnification must be 21/7.0-3.0 3. With one eye looking directly at the scale, and the other looking through the telescope, superpose the images as shown to estimate the angular magnification. Compate this with the theoretical angular magnification Ma- fe What is the "tube length" of this telescope?

Explanation / Answer

Advantage and disadvantage of Galilean telescope:

Advantage:

1. Superior resolving power per inch of aperture.

2. Not reflections and interruption of light path.

3. Superior performance in inferior condition.

4. It provide an upright image without requiring the erector lens system.

Disadvantage:

1. The field of view is not very large so you might not see the entire moon at once.

2. Initiial cost is high.

3. The colours cannot focus at one point.

4. The brightness of the field of view is gradually decrease from center to the edge.

Advantage and disadvantage of keplerian telescope;:

Advantage :

1. For astronomical purpose, the keplerian telescope is more satisfying as compare to Galilean telescope.

2. It uses an erector - lens system to provide an upright image, which is more accurate.

3. The field of view is increase as compare to the older one.

Disadvantage:

1. It has upside down image while the gallieo has upright only.
