Question
The answer to part a) will be a piecewise function
The figure shown represents a section through two very long coaxial cylinders. The inner cylinder is has a radius of a, is solid and has a uniformly distributed charge per unit length of +lamda (the volume distribution is also uniform, but is not defined with a parameter). The outer cylinder is a hollow cylindrical conductor with a charge per unit length of -2lamda , an inner radius of b, and an outer radius of c. Find E(r) for all r, in terms of the given parameters. Find the charge per unit length on the inside and outside surfaces of the conducting cylindrical shell.Explanation / Answer
to find the E(R) as a function of r we have to take 4 cases
a) 0 < R < R1
(b) R1 < R < R2
c) R2 < R < R3 and
(d) R3 < R
WHERE
a=R1 , b= R2, c=R3
i am having problem uploading images which is the solution.
i am giving u this link where u will find this same problem as Chapter 22, problem 38. solution is in the 4th page of pdf.
