Question

You hold a blowgun perfectly horizontal and shoot the dart from a height of 1.5 m above the ground. The dart travels 25 m across the room before it hits the floor. If the length of the tube of the blowgun is 0.60 m and the mass of the dart is 20 g, what is the net force acting on the dart in the tube as it is being fired?

THE ANSWER IS (A) = 237 M/S^2

(B)= 339M N

HOW DO YOU GET THESE ANSWERS THOUGH ??

Explanation / Answer

Let its velocity after coming out of tube is v Then x = vt => 25 = vt h = 0.5gt^2 => 1.5 = 0.5 *10*t^2 => t = 0.55 s => v = 25/0.55 = 45.64 m/s v^2 = 2as => a = (45.64)^2 / 2*0.6 = 1736 m/s^2 => F = ma = 34.72 N
