Question

Having trouble understanding this question, in particular part (i), if you could please provide the workings with a small bit of guidance as to how you got to the answer, I'd appreciate it alot. Thanks :)

(i) Calculate the angular velocity and angular acceleration of a 2kg mass rotating in a horizontal circle of 2m radius if one revolution takes 4 seconds.

(ii) An object rotates in a 3m diameter circle with angular velocity of 3 rad/s.

Calculate the period and the frequency of rotation for the object.

(iii) Calculate the centripetal force required to rotate a 3kg mass in a 6m diameter circle at 60 revolutions per minute.

Explanation / Answer

(i) 4 sec to complete one rev. Therefore in 1 second it covers 1/4th of the rev. = Pi/2 radians. Angular velocity = No of radians covered per second. = Pi/2 rad/sec = 3.14/2 = 1.57 rad/sec
