Question
I need help for this problem. It is due tomorrow. Thanks A stone is shot from the edge of a cliff 125 m above ground level with an initial speed of 65 m/s at an angle of 37 degree below the horizontal.(a) Determine the displacement along x direction.
(b) Determine the magnitude and angle of the velocity at the instant just before the stone hits the ground. I need help for this problem. It is due tomorrow. Thanks A stone is shot from the edge of a cliff 125 m above ground level with an initial speed of 65 m/s at an angle of 37 degree below the horizontal.
(a) Determine the displacement along x direction.
(b) Determine the magnitude and angle of the velocity at the instant just before the stone hits the ground.
Explanation / Answer
a) in vertiacl usning h = ut +at^2/2
-125 = 65sin37 - 9.8t^2/2
4.9t^2 - 39.12t - 125 = 0
t = 10.43 sec
R = 65cos37 x 10.43 = 541.44 m
b) v-x = 65cos37
v-y = 65sin37 - g x 10.43 = -63.10 m/s
magnitude = sqrt(vx^2 + vy^2) = 81.71 m/s
angle = tan-1(vy/vx) = 50.56 degrees below
