Question

IP The terminals A and B in the figure are connected to a 9.0- battery. Supposed R1= 1.0 , R2= 2.2 , R3= 5.8 , R4= 2.7 , R5= 8.8 , R6 = 5.9 . a)Find the current flowing through each resistor.

b)Is the potential difference across the resistor greater than, less than, or the same as the potential difference across theresistor? explain why??

Explanation / Answer

total currenct = 9/0.628 = 14.3 i1 = 9/1 = 9 i2 = 9/2.2 = 4.09 i6 = 14.3-9-4.09 = 1.209 i3 = 1.209*2.7*8.8/(5.8*2.7+2.7*8.8+8.8*5.8) = 0.013*2.7*8.8 = .317 i4 = 0.013*5.8*8.8 = 0.66 i5 = 0.22 b)and reason behind the second part is that potential across the terminal will remain equal to the applied potential.....and its pretty obvious that the potential across R6 will be definatly less than the applied potential...
