Question
a black of mass 0.30 Kg slides without friction along a straight ramp and then around the inside of a loop-the-loop R= 1.3 m (also without friction) as shown in the diagram below. the block started from rest at a hight H. wihen the block reached the top of the loop-the-loop, it had speed of 4.0 m/s. a) what was the hight H of the point where the block started from rest (measured from the height of the bottom of the ramp, the same as the bottom of the loop) ? B) when the block block was at the top of the loop-the-loop, what was the normal face between the block and the top of the loop?
Explanation / Answer
by conservation of energy, we get
.3*gH=0.3g*1.3+0.5*0.3*42 ( mg(H-H1 )=0.5*m*v2 )
H=2.11m
For normal force=centrifugal force - weight
=0.3*16/1.3-0.3*9.8
=0.7523N
