Hemoglobin is a protein that is made up of 4 protein chains . Each subunit is made up of protein chain tightly associated with a non protein prosthetic heme group. It has roughly a tetrahedral structure.
Myoglobin has 153 amino acid residues . It has eight alpha helices connected through turns with an oxygen binding site. It also has a heme group which carries oxygen to muscle tissues.
The oxygen binding curve of hemoglobin is sigmoid shape ( S shape) and fairly steep. This is due to the fact that 4 subunits of hemoglobin cooperates in binding of oxygen.
The oxygen saturation curve for myoglobin is rectangular hyperbola and not sigmoid as of hemoglobin. This is due to single subunit present in myoglobin.
