Question
A scuba tank, when fully charged, has a pressure of 194atm at 20 ?C. The volume of the tank is 11.3L .
I've answered parts A and B. I Included them so you could get the context and I think they're necessary to complete C. Please help!
A ) What would the volume of the air be at 1.00 atm and at the same temperature? 2190 L.
B) Before entering the water, a person consumes 2.0 L of air in each breath, and breathes 12 times a minute. At this rate, how long would the tank last? t= 91 minutes
C) At a depth of 12.3m of sea water and temperature of 11?C, how long would the same tank last assuming the breathing rate does not change?
Explanation / Answer
A)
We know that
PV/T = constant
V2 = V1 * P1/P2
= 194 * 11.3 L
= 2192.2 L
B)
Time :
= 2192.2 / (2*12)
= 91.34 min
C)
Pressure at 12.3 m depth :
= [1+ {(12.3*1000*9.8)/(10^5)}] atm
= 2.21 atm
Volume of air for breathing :
= (2192.2/2.21)
= 991.95 L
Required time :
= 91.34/2.21
= 41.33 min
