(c) What is the speed of the block just before it hits the spring?




solution :


since the total work done = change in PE + change in Ke

= mgd + 1/2mv^2-------(1)



also Wd = 1/2 kd^2 ----------(2)


comparing equation 1 and 2 we ve


mgd + 1/2mv^2 = 1/2 kd^2




v = sqrt {(k *d^2)/m - 2gd }
