These are the equations i used which is not what was asked of.
Lab 3 - Force from a Hydraulic Jet CIVL 3182- Hydraulics and Hydrology Lab 1 March 2018 1 Impulse and Momentum Impulse is defined as a force acting on a body for a period of time. Momentum is defined as the product of the mass of a body and its velocity. Both impulse and momentum are vector quantities 2 Impulse Impulse can be defined by FAt Impulse When considered as an instantaneous quantity the time change become a differential quantity Fat Impulse 3 Momentum Starting with the well known Newton equation where F is a force vector, m is the mass, and a is the acceleration vector. We can replace the acceleration term with the rate of change of the velocity vector. dv Multiplying both sides of the expression by dt So the Impulse applied will be equal to the change in momentum. Remember that these are vector quantities so the signs and directions must be taken into consideration.

Explanation / Answer

if you are applying jet in x-direction then Vy and Vz component will be zero.

your spreadsheet is correct. no need to add anything.
