"Gitanjali" is a collection of poems by the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. The original Bengali collection of 157 poems was published in the year 1910. The English Gitanjali or Song Offerings is a collection of 103 English poems of Tagore's own English translations of his Bengali poems first published in November 1912 by the India Society of London. It contained translations of 53 poems from the original Bengali Gitanjali, as well as 50 other poems which were from his drama Achalayatan and eight other books of poetry.

It is a work with bengali indian culture depicting the great devotion to the god and goddess, it has mainly an apollonian approach. the infliunce of eastern world and culture can be easily experienced.

The word gitanjali is composed from "geet", song, and "anjali", offering, and thus means – "An offering of songs"; but the word for offering, anjali, has a strong devotional connotation, so the title may also be interpreted as "prayer offering of song" . The title is absolutely appropriate and the wriiter is sucessful  conveying the message through his poems.

Rabindranath Tagore also called by the name Gurudev, was one of the most famous and popular Bengali polymath who reshaped Bengali literature and music, He was a writer , poet , singer, novelist,painter, and a stage artist ,rightly called a polymath. he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature largely for the English Gitanjali in 1913. He revolunised Indian art with Contextual Modernism ,

The speciality of this work of art is the appealing methodology and the unique presentation of the ideology reflecting culture so deep rooted and advanced. It is a good work and I would recommend it to others.
