Air pollution is one of the major risk factor which aggrevates respiratory conditions.

Proactive strategies :

Primary care nurses should ensure that patients who fall into the susceptible and sensitive sub-groups likepregnant women, children and the elderly and those with cardiorespiratory conditions are made aware of the possible health effects that may be experienced in the event of poor air quality.

Educate to take actions to reduce pollution like eg, walking/cycling or public transport rather than driving; use of petrol rather than diesel cars in urban areas, there follows a greater likelihood of changing behaviour in favour of not only a healthier population but also a cleaner environment.

Nurse should educate about the DAILY AIR QUALITY INDEX to the people by advicing them through get informations of daily air quality index communicated via television, radio, newspapers and internet, can be used to understand air pollution levels and find out about recommended actions and health advice.

Reactive strategies:

Advice the clients to seek medical attention if they experience slight change in their condition as early as possible.

Follow prescribed medication correctly.

Teach the patients once signs of exacerbation occurs avoid allergents and polluted environment.

Educate them to avoid activities which make them close to polluted environent like near burning of things,factories,use of petrol cars and thickly traffic roads .
