But in case of fine grained soil, the particles have lesser space in between the soil particles, which results in slower infiltration of water, thus reducing the speed of ground water movement. Though, fine particles drain slowly, these tend to hold the water in a much better manner as compared to soils having larger pore size. Hence, for a soil with fine granules, the water storage capacity will be more.
