A new toxin discovered in cholera becteria

Cholera , major endemic in low income nations , caused by bacterium vibrio cholerae. This disease characterize by severe watery diahrrea, if it infect bloodstream lead to blood poisioning. There are various variant of bacteria present in brackish water but the structure and function of the vibrio toxin was unknown so far. Scientist professor Sun Nyunt Wai from Unea university discovered and characterize structure and function of vibrio toxin. They used C elegans as predatory host for the bacteria also caused infection in zebrafish. They identified genes required for production and release of toxin called MakA by molecular genetic analysis. Electron and light microscope also used in this study.

Scientist found that the gene sequence required for production of toxin and also established that flagillum that used in motilityalso used for release of toxin. Therefore, scientist conclude that MakA is a noval cytotoxin affecting both vertebrate and invertibrates
