Explanation / Answer
Rf means therelative front which we obtain in paper chromatography. This gives the mobility ofthe sample in the two phases i.e., mobile phase and the immobilephase. Rf iscalculated as : distancetravelled by solvent Rf = distance travelled by solute Paper chromatography isused to separate the molecules. From this information wecan say that the mobility or migration of carotene is faster i.e.,it along with the mobile phase while the movement of xanthophylls is very less. We can also say thatcarotene movement is followed by chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b andthen xanthophylls followed it . I hope this has servedyour purpose.Related Questions
