1. Darwin proposed that the evolution is based on natural selection. He said due to limited resources available on Earth, Organisms which tend to survive will leave more offspring as compared to their peers, which will result in the passing off their traits to the future generations. These organism gets adapted to the environment in which they are living based on the concept of natural selection.
Initially, Darwin was not aware of the theory of inheritance. It was his assumption, That traits passes from parents to offspring.
2. Population ecology is the population of a group of individuals of the same species which inhebits in the same region. With time some changes might occur in the characteristics of this population due to changing living environment.
3. There are three main sources of genetic variation.
Genetic drift can cause allelic variation.
Genotype variation:
It tells us how everything is formed. Genotype is the genetic blueprint of an individual while phenotype is the structure. It’s a fact that the changes or characteristics passes on to their future generations. These mutations results in some changes in the way species are formed with time. This is why evolution occurs. Gene flow also results in genotype variation.
