QUESTION 20
The greenhouse effect is ________________.
incoming shortwave radiation converted into longwave radiation, which is then trapped by atmospheric gases
reflection of longwave radiation after converted shortwave radiation is trapped by atmospheric gases
carbon dioxide buildup in the atmosphere
global warming due to ozone depletion
none of the above
Explanation / Answer
16. Concentration of ozone have been reduced as a result of the Montreal Protocol.
To reduce the ozone it uses the chemicals that are ozone-damazing such as CFC, HCFC etc and it is aimed to ban the global production.
17. In a body of water becoming eutropic, dissolved oxygen would be observed to decrease.
At some situation when the nutrients especially the nitrogen and phosphorous of lakes or pond increases excessively, the lake becomes able to support abundance of aquatic plants. Thus an oligotropic lake become an eutropic lake which has high biological activity and low amount of dissolved oxygen.
18. Coal, oil and natural gas are fossil fuels.
These are formed by natural processes by decaying plants and animals over hundreds of million of years. The main disadvantage of these are they are non-renewable and on burning they produce greenhouse gases which causes global warming.
19. Roughly two third of this greenhouse gas evaporates into the atmosphere as a by product of soil managment. It is carbon Dioxide.
It causes to raise the global temperature and a reason for global warming.
